Had to convince my old Witness mum creaking in the roof and T.V set at night is not DEMONS!!!
by Witness 007 inyes late at night the roof creaks....and the older t.v {picture tube} makes a creaking sound when cooling down at night....of course at breakfast she thought it was demonzz because i had the playstation...."violent game"on....which was starwars not so demonized.

Great Crowd or narrow path?
by Catmancoop inin jesus sermon on the mount, he speaks of a narrow path that few will find, yet jw's teach of a great crowd, which no one will be able to number....the number currently is just over 7 million....so what gives?
is it a small number of people or a great crowd?.

OTWO - the men in my family are/were the kind of elders you describe yourself as being. For the most part the elders in most of my congregations really seemed to care. The occasional a--hole elder story always infuriated me b/c it seemed so unnecessary. It wasn't until some of my family (and later myself) had run ins with some bethel elders that I really came to see how hateful and backstabbing they can be..... it got bad for many I knew over the years.
I know for a fact that what endears a lot of witnesses to the congregation is finding an elder who really cares and understands them. They feel as if it is a gift from Jehovah. It kind of becomes the ultimate trap though because it makes it seem like the problems in the org are because of a few rotten apples and that some day very very soon, Jehovah and Jesus will clean house and lift the burden these elders with bad personalities place on them. They never come around to seeing the problem stemming from the foundation of the religion.

Goodbye! .....Sort of
by cantleave ini've been on here nearly a year and i believe it is time to move on.. i think i know what i want out of life.
i have been spending less time on here and am now back in full time employment (not on a consultancy basis - but properly employed!)..
i need to think about building a career and consider the future, build a retirement fund, reduce my debts and pay off my mortgage.

The Witnesses are freaking out
by Sour Grapes ini still go to a few meetings a month just to keep members of my family happy.. the witnesses seemed to be getting all worked up about how close the end.
it sorta feels like the 1975 era only 35 years later.
